The Minnesota State Knowledge Test/Permit Test can be taken at any driver examination stations located throughout the state. The knowledge test contains multiple choice and true or false questions that evaluates your knowledge on understanding of Minnesota traffic laws and road signs.
For a student to be eligible to take the Knowledge Test a student must:
Be 15 years of age or older
- Provide a Primary and Secondary Form of Identification.
- Forms of Primary Identification: Certified Birth Certificate or Valid Passport
- Forms of Secondary Identification: Social Security Card or School Picture Identification. If you choose School Identification, you must know your Social Security Number.
- Completed 30 hours of Classroom Instruction with Buckle Up, Buckle up will then issue the Blue Card (Certificate of Enrollment.)
- Provide Blue Card (Certificate of Enrollment)
- Pass a Vision Test
- Complete application (Exam Centers Provide), parent or guardian must be present to sign
- Have picture taken
- Pay fee: $14.25 (Subject to change)
