Minnesota Drivers License Knowledge Test Information
Here are some details about the written exam taken in Minnesota
- Is conducted in English, Vietnamese, Hmong, Somalian, Russian and Spanish.
- Test consist of 40 multiple choice or true/false questions. An adult must answer 32 questions correctly to pass and obtain a Minnesota permit.
- If your language is not listed above, please call 651-284-1000 or 651-284-1234 to schedule an oral examination. You the tester must provide an interpreter that can speak your language and English. The State of Minnesota DOES NOT provide an interpreter.
To apply for an instruction permit, adults must:
- Provide a primary and secondary form of identification
- Primary Forms: Certified Birth Certificate or Valid Passport
- Secondary Forms: Social Security Card or State Identification Card, must know Social Security Number.
- Pass a vision test
- Have their photo taken
- Pay the fee (cash or checks accepted, no credit cards)
